Ironing Board Cabinet

Installing Ironing board cabinet

Building a foldup ironing cabinet saves space in a tight location where you need access to an ironing board. Ironing board cabinets are easy to build, and keep the board in a mounted location at all times. The boards are often much smaller than regular ironing boards, but they’re just as effective.

step by step instructions

Step 1
Set the two cabinet sides parallel to one another. Position the cabinet tops above the sides.

Step 2
Connect the cabinet sides and cabinet tops together using the corner brackets. Place the brackets about 1 inch inside the corner of the cabinet. Screw them in with the bracket screws.

Step 3
Lay the cabinet door over the new structure. Connect the door by screwing it in with the door hinges.

Step 4
Measure the area you want to hang this cabinet. Using a stud finder, locate a stud that you will use to drill the cabinet into.

Step 5
Measure approximately 36 inches from the ground up, and make a small mark on the wall.

Step 6
Line up the bottom of the cabinet with the mark on the wall. Hang the cabinet on the wall using your drill and cabinet-mounting screws.

Step 7
Drill two hinges onto the bottom of the ironing board.

Step 8
Drill the hinges into the back end of the cabinet. The ironing board will be laying down flat, and may sag downwards.

Step 9
Screw in a hinge on the bottom side of the ironing board, toward the front of the board (away from the wall side).

Step 10
Drill an expandable rod into the hinge on the bottom of the board. The rod should have a rubber bottom and expand out at least 38 inches. It should be no longer than 32 inches. When you connect the expandable rod to the bottom of the board, make sure the rubber stopper is on the bottom.

Step 11
Expand the rod out to the bottom of the floor to give the board extra support
